DESTA developed a supply chain simulation model for a healthcare company in India. This model was used to conduct a workshop with their team to assess the type of scenarios the model could generate and how it could help them to plan their supply chain systems for scaling up operations. The model runs for 730 hours (depicting a 30-day period) and simulates a supply chain system of materials moving across stocks of inventory ultimately getting dispatched to fulfil the demand. The model interface was used with the company managers for testing order rate, warehouse size, and predicting fulfilment rates under different scenarios. It helped them understand the benefit of capturing the entire supply chain system, with its constraints, instead of planning for individual warehouses. The model can generate scenarios by changing the space, demand, and ordering cycle. A sample simulation interface of the model is available here.
